How to Build a Authentic Personal Brand
The only right way to do it.
Building a personal brand is the best way to make a living doing what you love, while being able to have full control over your schedule, and make a difference in the world.
But if you do it wrong, it’s a waste of time. But what’s the right way to do it?
Your way.
Not my way. Not Dan Koe way.
Just your way.
You can learn from me. You can learn from Dan Koe.
But at the end of the day, you still gotta create your own path.
And if you follow these steps, you’ll be well on your way.
Start with your own vision.
The best thing about building your own personal brand is that you get to have full creative freedom.
But if you don’t have a long term vision for what you want your brand to be, that can be more of a gift than a curse.
You ain’t gotta have it all figured out in the beginning.
Matter fact, you won’t have it all figured out in the beginning.
But you should at least have a idea of what you want it to be.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself to create a personal brand that’s true to who you are.
What do you want your brand to stand for?
Who do you want your brand to attract?
What kind of products or services do you wanna sell?
What type of content do you wanna make?
What kinda people do you wanna network with?
What parts of yourself do you wanna grow and express through your personal brand?
You see where I’m going?
Creating an authentic personal brand is all about what YOU want.
And most importantly, who YOU are.
Now I ain’t saying you shouldn’t take feedback from other people and grow.
Sometimes you might add or subtract things from your brand based on feedback you get from your audience or from your network.
But ultimately it’s all about making sure every decision you make is in alignment with who you are.
What NOT to do if you wanna build a authentic personal brand.
Care too much about what other people think.
This might be the biggest cardinal sin you could ever commit if you wanna build a authentic personal brand.
I’m guilty of it myself.
Especially when it come to the way I talk and write stuff.
But the bad thing about that is that by changing the way I talk, I was making myself invisible to the people that would resonate with me exactly the way I am.
Why the fuck would I wanna do that?
It don’t make no damn sense.
So take this lesson from me and make sure you know how to not give a fuck about what somebody else think.
Overthink.
That’s another big one.
When it come to making a authentic personal brand, the authenticity is in the rawness.
And a big thing about rawness is that it’s not tampered with.
It’s just exactly how it is.
And the moment you start to overthink a idea, you tamper with the rawness of it.
Which mean you making it less authentic.
I’m not saying you should never strategize.
But just learn to understand the difference between strategizing and overthinking.
Sometimes you’ll be better off going with a idea exactly how it is, and seeing how people react to it.
Whether they like it or not, it’ll be authentic.
And it just might be a BANGER 🔥
Do stuff just cause somebody else said you should.
That’s especially true when it come to the content creation and business side of a personal brand.
People use a whole bunch of tricks and tactics to build a audience and all that, but those tactics might make your brand worse instead of better.
You can take advice from people and try different stuff out, but always do it from a place of tryna see if it’s right for your brand.
And once you get your answer, believe it and move accordingly.
Summary
To build a authentic personal brand, you need to start with your own vision, and focus on what you want and who you are.
Make sure you learn how to not care about what people think, and do what’s best for you.
Stay away from all that overthinking.
And don’t do stuff just cause somebody else said you should.
Always remember that you have the highest level of authority when it come to your brand, and you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do.
